Master Charlie LaVanchy began his study of tae kwon do in 1968. In January of 2008 he received his 7th degree Black Belt certification from Grandmaster Y.S. Choi, President of T.T.C.A. He also holds 7th degree ceritification from Kukkiwon. Chung Do Kwan Master's certification from Great Grandmaster Lee, Won Kuk. Master LaVanchy serves on the T.T.C.A. Board of Directors as the Executive Director. Master LaVanchy teaches tae kwon do classes at the University of Southern Indiana in Evansville, Indiana as well as doing private instruction when his schedule allows it. From 1972 to 1974 Master LaVanchy served in the U.S. Army, mostly stationed in Germany. After his Army term was up he earned an associates degree in criminal justice and joined the Vanderburgh County Sheriff's Department in Evansville, Indiana where he was the Department's Defensive Tactics Instructor and a team leader of the S.W.A.T team.
